Chair Decoding
Online Workshop – 4 Hours
Decoding a chair is like reverse engineering through drawing which involves breaking down its design into its fundamental components and understanding how those components come together. Before we delve into drawing, an introduction to Chairs and Ergonomics is given along with Wood and its properties. The whole process is guided with a video and live instructions. We would be decoding Finn Juhl’s Egyptian Chair, referring to it’s images for sizes and produce the Chair’s Production Drawings understanding its joinery and structure on a scale of 1:10. The drawings here are produced free hand using reference scale of XY axis.

- Standard Wood Sizes Used for Production
- How Wood is used, keeping in mind the grain direction and how it affects the strength of any joinery.
- We will be making plan, section, elevations and exploded view.
